Wireless internet access for visiting researchers

Cincinnati Children’s is committed to providing an efficient and convenient working environment for all of its visiting researchers. Visiting researchers now have access to the Internet via an open connection to the Road Runner network through Cincinnati Children’s enterprise wireless network. This service provides an easy and quick way to access the Internet on non-CCHMC owned, wireless-enabled computers.

Where is the guest wireless service available?

Guest wireless is now available in Location S in addition to all four Location R buildings.

How do visiting researchers gain access to the new service?

The service is designed to work like other publicly accessible wireless services such as those in hotels or cafes. The network name is chmc-guest. This name is not broadcast, so you need to specify it in your wireless setup utility.  A password is needed to connect to the chmc-guest network.

Does this service provide access to resources on the Cincinnati Children's internal network?

No.  This is a guest network intended to assist visiting faculty, students and other researchers.

Where should visiting researchers go for instructions or answers to questions?

Please contact the IS Service Desk: 513-636-4100.
