Installation Notes for Users

Often, there is an immediate need for a perl module to be installed in the cluster for testing an application or such. This has been a bottleneck some times when you need to wait for someone from the cluster admin group to get the module installed before you can proceed with your work..

Please check out this URL to understand how you can install Perl modules in a non-system location (like your home directory) and use them until they are installed by the admin for you in the standard location.

Note:

Please
* submit a request to help@bmi.cchmc.org to get the modules installed in the system Perl library location for long term solution.
* understand that not all modules can be installed this way, as some modules require access to privileged sockets in the host and hence require root permissions.
